Mosquito Nets for Windows & Doors in Mumbai & Pune
What it is and why it matters
Dengue, malaria and chikungunya cases rise sharply in Mumbai and Pune every monsoon. Mosquito nets on windows and balcony doors are a simple, lasting layer of protection, with less need for repellents and coils, and no need to shut windows in the heat.
Every net (machhar jali) is custom made to your frame size. We take exact measurements at the site visit, fabricate the frames, and install them within a few days.
Benefits of honeycomb mosquito doors and window nets
Folds away neatly
A honeycomb door folds into a slim stack at the side when you do not need it. There is no loose net hanging or flapping in the doorway.
Easy to use every day
It slides open and shut in one smooth movement, so it suits balcony and French doors that you use many times a day.
Made for wide openings
Honeycomb and pleated doors suit wide balcony doors, French doors and sliding doors where ordinary nets look untidy.
Fresh air without mosquitoes
Keep doors and windows open in the evening and during the monsoon without coils, sprays or closed windows.
Made to measure
Every net (machhar jali) is custom made to your frame after we measure it, so there are no gaps for mosquitoes.
The right net for every window
Sliding nets for sliding windows, honeycomb or pleated doors for balconies, and simple velcro or magnetic nets for small windows.

Mosquito Nets FAQs
Which mosquito net is best for sliding windows?
A sliding mosquito net on its own aluminium track is the best match for sliding windows. If space is tight, a pleated net works too. Velcro nets are the simplest option but are less durable.
Do mosquito nets reduce air flow?
Slightly. A standard 18×16 fibreglass mesh lets most breeze through while stopping mosquitoes. Pleated polyester mesh is very fine and keeps air flowing well.
Can I remove mosquito nets for cleaning?
Yes. Velcro and magnetic nets peel off; sliding and pleated nets can be lifted out or wiped in place with a damp cloth.
Are mosquito nets pet-proof?
Standard fibreglass mesh can be torn by cats. Choose SS 304 mesh if you have pets.
What is a honeycomb mosquito door?
It is a pleated mosquito net for balcony and French doors whose mesh folds in a honeycomb pattern. It slides open and shut, folds neatly to the side when you do not need it, and keeps mosquitoes out when it is closed.
Honeycomb door or sliding mosquito net: which is better?
For balcony and French doors that you open often, a honeycomb or pleated door is easier, because it folds away neatly. For sliding windows, a sliding mosquito net on its own track is the best match.
Do you make mosquito nets to measure?
Yes. Every net (machhar jali) is custom made to your frame size after we measure it at the inspection.
Do mosquito nets help in the monsoon?
Yes. Mosquitoes increase sharply in Mumbai and Pune during and after the monsoon, and fitted nets help you keep windows and balcony doors open with far fewer mosquitoes.
How much does a honeycomb or pleated mosquito door cost?
It depends on the door size, the mesh, the frame colour and the fitting. We first inspect your site, then propose and agree with you the materials and the type of quality you need, and quote the price accordingly.
Which mosquito net is best for sliding, casement or UPVC windows?
For sliding windows, a sliding net on its own track. For casement and UPVC windows, a roller, pleated or fixed net usually works best, and for small windows a velcro or magnetic net. We suggest the right one at the inspection.
Can you fit mosquito nets on windows that already have a grill?
In most cases, yes. The net is usually fitted on the inside of the window frame or the grill, depending on the space. We check this at the inspection.
How is a honeycomb door different from a pleated mosquito net?
Both are pleated nets that fold away to the side. In a honeycomb door the pleats form a honeycomb-like pattern. We show you both at the inspection. Read our honeycomb door guide.
Magnetic or velcro mosquito net: which is better?
Both are simple, removable nets for small windows. Magnetic nets are quicker to open and close. For windows you open often, a sliding or pleated net is usually the better long-term choice.
Steel mesh or fibreglass mesh: which is better?
Fibreglass mesh is the standard choice for most windows. Stainless steel (SS 304) mesh is stronger and better if you have pets that scratch. We show you both at the inspection.
Can you fit mosquito nets without drilling in a rented flat?
Velcro and magnetic nets can often be fitted without drilling, which suits rented flats. Sliding and pleated nets usually need a few screws. Tell us you are renting and we will suggest the best option.
Can rats cut through mosquito mesh?
Rats can chew through fibreglass and polyester mesh. On ground floors and windows near ducts or drains, we recommend stainless steel (SS 304) mesh, which is designed to be much harder to chew. Tell us if rats are a problem in your building.
Can you put a mosquito net on the main door or a safety door?
Yes. For the main door we usually fit a pleated or honeycomb mosquito door inside the door frame, so you can keep the door open for air. We check the frame depth and the floor at the inspection.
Do you fit mosquito nets on bathroom and kitchen windows?
Yes. Small bathroom and kitchen windows usually suit a fixed, velcro or magnetic net, or a sliding net if the window slides. Kitchen nets collect oil and dust, so we suggest one that is easy to remove and wash.
What are the disadvantages of pleated mosquito nets?
Pleated nets usually cost more than velcro nets, the bottom track needs to be kept free of dust, and standard mesh can be damaged by pets or rats. For homes with pets we suggest a stronger mesh. We explain the pros and cons of each type at the inspection.
What is the machhar jali rate for windows?
The machhar jali price depends on the window or door size, the type (sliding, pleated, honeycomb, velcro or magnetic), the mesh and the frame. We inspect, propose and agree on the materials and quality you need, then quote accordingly. Send photos and sizes on WhatsApp to plan the visit.
How long does a pleated mosquito net last?
It depends on how often the net is used, sun exposure and care. Keeping the track clean and the mesh dusted helps it last longer. Warranty terms are as per our written warranty plan, listed in your quote.
