Best Mosquito Net for Windows: Pleated, Sliding or Velcro?
By Sushil Shinde, Founder & Installation Head, SafeNest · Updated November 2026
Short answer: For sliding windows choose a sliding mosquito net; for balcony and French doors choose a pleated or honeycomb net; for a rented flat or small windows choose velcro or magnetic. Roller nets are neat but need careful use. All stop mosquitoes if the frame is sealed edge to edge.

| Type | Best for | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| Velcro / magnetic | Rented flats, small windows | 1-2 years |
| Sliding | Sliding aluminium windows | 5+ years |
| Roller | Casement windows, clean look | 3-5 years |
| Pleated (plisse) | Balcony doors, French doors, wide openings | 5+ years |
| Honeycomb pleated | Balcony and French doors where you want the net to fold away neatly | 5+ years |
If you have cats or dogs, upgrade to SS 304 mesh, which is much harder for them to tear.
